A small break

Sometimes I forget what it is like to be a parent to only one child. It is SO much easier LOL! My mom took Jordan for a couple of days because we were not getting along…boy was it quiet around here. I took Caleb to a couple places around here to try to get some good photos of him but he wasn’t very cooperative. Friday we also had his meeting with the allergist. We really wanted to have Atopy Patch Testing done but she's pretty against it. She claims that she has been to all of the conferences where it has been talked about and that she has also read a lot of literature stating that it is inconclusive, easily botched and just not a good diagnostic tool. I’m a little bummed but I know I could find someone else to do it if it came down to it. She is putting in a referral to a dietician so that we can figure out creative ways to feed him his safe foods and also to meddle through all the different types of foods (oils, starches, lecithin, etc., etc.). She is also putting in a referral to GI. We really didn’t want to take Caleb to GI because we know he is pretty healthy and we don’t think having a scope or something done would show much but at least it would completely rule out EI. We are sure on the FPIES diagnosis but its never 100% until you do the biopsy. We began trialing almond and we are on our 3rd day. So far so good but I'm still really nervous!

I had meant to write this post last Thursday but here it is Monday and I'm just now getting around to it. Its not that I put it off but I forget! I want to write more in here this year. I think its important so that I can remember all of the little things…. I cant kid myself and think I can remember everything anymore. I also have been trying to get the kids outside more, especially Caleb. Up till now I have been so paranoid because of his food allergies that I tend to keep him cooped up in the house where I know its safe. I realize that its not fair to him. I'm trying to change. Our 6 year wedding anniversary was on Saturday. We had a fairly good day.We dropped the kids off at the in-laws and went up to Direct Buy to pick up something we ordered. We planned out the couch we are going to get with our tax return and then headed out to dinner. I wanted to try to get a picture of us together but Josh is so darn stubborn! Anyway, here are some other pictures :)

Amanda came over and we made these great T-Shirts from http://crafterhours.blogspot.com/2011/08/tee-to-tank-tutorial-by-jen-from.html . It was so easy and a TON of fun (except when my sewing machine was acting up). Caleb was not happy that we made him stay inside while we took the picture of our shirt. He was happy though that we let him come outside afterward.

lets see….you heard from me when?? LOL! Halloween went ok…..c had a mild FPIES reaction to something he got into up north. had mike, heather and the kids over for trick or treating…the mosquitos were TERRIBLE!! Thanksgiving was alright, went over to the inlaws for a while and then to mike and heathers for dinner. c’s allergist appointment went ok…they said to just stay on the formula and give him the foods he can have and reevaluate in 6 months. I feel so terrible for him, wish there was something I can do but I know its just something we will have to live with until he grows out of it. he has has more than a few reactions in the last few months. now that he is finally walking its harder for us to keep the food away from him. we had our typical christmases with our cousin tina and then the inlaws. we also cooked here christmas eve and had several people over. it went really well! j’s birthday had a decent turnout and we had a really good time. josh and I’s 6 year anniversary is coming up, not sure what we are going to do. anyway, that’s the short overview of the last several months.

seems like once august is over things spin into fast forward almost instantly. I cant even imagine what things are going to be like once the boys start school…they are already incredibly insane. thanksgiving was ok, running around everywhere as usual. seems like we never get as much done during those few days as we would like. im so lucky that josh gets to be off most holidays, the boys love having him home and, well, so do i. black friday was a bad weather day but I drug out and went to a couple places to get some deals on christmas presents. I made sure to avoid places like walmart and , god forbid, the mall. we had family pictures done for the first time over thanksgiving week. we had been needing to take some for SO long! j was uncooperative as usual but we were able to get some really good ones, I look forward to getting some more. the boys are pretty sick right now, they picked up rsv from somewhere and it caused them to get bronchiolitis and ear infections. j seems to be close to getting over it but c still has a ways to go. c is a lot better than he was tho so im not quite as worried. ill try to update some after christmas and then j’s birthday party. ready for the sickness to go away and relax a little!!! maybe a nap??

sorry it has been so long….things are chaotic here. everything has changed and it seems we are having trouble catching up. seems like just yesterday Caleb was born but in reality its been almost 4 months. wow….time flies with 2 children. hes a pretty good baby but likes to be held more than Jordan did…its nice to have the cuddles but it leaves less time for myself. no ppd this time and hardly any anxiety. having Caleb was a healing experience for me. i suppose i could tell my story, people havent really asked. i had been in prodomal labor for a week and was 3cm dilated 75% effaced and he was at 0 station (not that it means anything to you) and we really thought i would go any time but we just waited and waited. i woke up that day feeling like today was going to be the day so we went to walmart to see if i could walk my way into labor. i started having regular contractions but they wouldnt get closer than like 10 mins apart. finally that night in desperation i asked the midwife if there was anything i could do and she suggested using the pump. well, it worked. right after that i went right into active labor and just laid on the floor groaning. we called the midwife and josh started filling the pool. the pain started to get too intense and i needed relief of hot water so i got in our bathtub while waiting for him to finish filling the pool…..i never got out. shortly after the midwife got there and called in another midwife. as they were setting up i went into transition and alerted them. Caleb's heartbeat kept dropping so we had to get me in a really uncomfortable position when i started pushing. my body really just did it itself…i had no control over what i was doing. my water broke just before he crowned and it was much easier to push him out. he had his cord wrapped around his arm which was causing his heart rate issues. he didnt really cry and didnt really want to breathe even with oxygen so we cut the cord and he was taken to have the mask put on. he started making an effort once he was separated and had no choice but to breathe on his own. everything else came out fine and the bleeding was slow and normal. it was such a relief not to have to worry about myself for once. Caleb rooted and wanted to nurse right away and i was happy to oblige! a few hours of sleep and i was a new woman. i was up walking around and feeling good within 24 hours. Jordan was at Kathy's and stayed there for a few days (except to meet his brother). nursing was difficult and we held on (while supplementing) for about 15 weeks. he was breast milk only for a while but wasnt gaining weight. he weaned himself off of breast milk at 15 weeks and started sleeping through the night. i love my boys more than anything. i had my iud placed in about 3 weeks ago and it has all gone well!

friday ran to walmart to buy a few groceries and 2 birthday presents for 2 very sweet children i know. jordan really really wanted to keep one of them but i wouldnt let him! it was a fisher price piggy that made noise and vibrated. if it was set on tile it would move around (because of vibrations)

saturday went to my friend H’s house to keep her company while she was preparing for her daughters 1st birthday the next morning. when i come home jordan is covered in hives head to toe….turns out he has my grass and weed allergies. poor kiddo!

sunday had the 2 first birthdays to go to so i felt like i was rush rush rush all day. we had a good time but at the end of the day mommy was pooped and jordan was itchy, wet, exhausted and mostly naked (lol he and H decided to play in the bathtub with water and bubbles just as i was wanting to walk out the door)

he still has his hives but they are getting better in some places. arms and face seem to be the worst! here are pics :)

ive been having an issue with ups. last saturday i ordered a few items from babiesrus and thought it would be a routine purchase….not exactly. the tracking information on my package has not updated in around 36 hours. i contacted ups this afternoon about it and have not heard from them. just got on the online tracker and it cant find my tracking number, package, info ANYTHING!! wth is going on here?! is my package lost? sigh. they. suck.

EDIT: 3/15/10...and im still waiting. how is it taking +3 days to go 30 miles? ridiculous...i wish everyone used fedex.

today is my moms birthday so we decided to celebrate yesterday. she had a great time with jordan while we were getting ready to go to the childrens museum.

the place was packed and jordan was a little overwhelmed so it was a lot of work for us but we had a GREAT time anyway.

after the largest tantrum of the day, including me getting beaten up, we decided to just go home. he refused to do anything at this point to i had to carry him til we got outside…he calmed down some then. all in all we were only there around 2 hours and i feel like we didnt get to see much but it was a good hour to get there and ended up being around an hour and a half to get home. it was a VERY long day. i cant wait to go again…this time with a stroller!!

the terrible twos have come to our house. regardless of all the chaos and noise around here i think he is cuter than ever. starting to have to move things around since he has started climbing. we are also having to change our parenting style but thats ok, we expected to. i must say that two is VERY adorable. he cracks us up every day. this last week he has been sick so we havent been having very much fun but i notice an improvement in behavior and mood now that he is feeling better. im anxious to see how things will be between jordan and his brother. caleb is getting big and showing his strength. its amazing to me to be able to feel elbows and knees. the way my stomach just moves with him….im sad that i will never get to experience this again; i have plenty of good memories tho. i find that i really like my body this time around. feeling healthier is a big part of that. josh and i are good…happier than ever. we finally found our niche :)

things have been good, have started working through my issues and my anxiety and panic is almost totally under control. of course i still have some bad days but its so nice to be able to make spur of the moment decisions again. i can just grab my purse and go out the door. i took that for granted before i got sick. never again! i feel so blessed every time im able to do something “normal” again. im past the halfway mark in my pregnancy, 23 weeks tomorrow. jordan is so excited that he is going to have a little…..BROTHER!! caleb is doing well in there and growing bigger all the time. hes a very busy boy just like jordan so i think they will get along famously!! jordans birthday was a hit, he had such a good time. it was so nice to see everyone :)

sorry for being gone so long. its been pretty busy and stressful around here. im now 15 1/2 weeks prego and we have our gender scan the 19th. really looking forward to it. went to the ER on the 15 because my cervix had softened and i was bleeding a bit…Jackie says everything is ok tho. she really thinks im going to be ok. the baby is doing good and i got to hear the heartbeat a couple weeks ago (finally)! Jordan was DJ Lance Rock for halloween and Josh sported his “drill instructor” costume…basically his Marine Corp uniform with a fake helmet. Mike and Heather and the kids came over and watched Paranormal Activity. Tessa was a flower and Hunter was a pilot. Josh and Jordan recently have mohawks and ive lost a LOT of weight. will update with Christmas photos when i can. :) the last 4 months as quick as possible in pictures LOL

so i had an interesting day yesterday. after i got the downstairs guy to turn down his music (he barely turned it down and its loud AGAIN today) i dealt with jordans almost constant temper tantrum and then nearly avoided a fire! sometimes when i get jordan up i let him run to the kitchen since he never gets to go in there. i guess at some point he turned on the heated dry on the dishwasher and i didn't know it. i kept smelling what i thought was hot dot. sometimes if smelled like fire but i could not figure out where it was coming from and i didn't hear any fire alarms from other apartments. i finally open the dishwasher and tons of smoke and steam came out of it. turns out a wooden spoon fell down and jammed against the heating element and was charred on one side. i reran an rinse cycle to get rid of any smoke or toxins on the dishes and went on but it was definitely a wakeup call. ill pay more attention to the settings on the dishwasher from now on. josh brought home kfc and jordan liked it!!! i really didn't think he would like just plain old grilled chicken but he decided to surprise me and actually eat some lol. josh seems to really be feeling better. he's having less issues with it. I'm really hoping him being on the naproxen will help him to feel better again. i cant understand why they stopped giving him it! next thing I'm going to work on is his stomach. i think he should go back to his doc and get back on reflux medicine. he should try to get them to prescribe nexium or protonix. I'm sure he will feel so much better. he needs to feel good again, i know his health is really starting to bog him down and when he's down I'm down. i don't like to worry about him. my birthday is tomorrow, it doesn't feel like it. we are supposed to go up to moms this weekend but josh doesn't know if he's going to have off. i hope so since they are throwing the party and everything but if i don't have a way up there then I'm kind of stuck. id really like to go!

the last few months have been chaotic to say the least. things have been really good with my new family members, ive really enjoyed my time visiting everyone. weve been trying to keep a positive attitude through all these layoffs. we want to move north but im not sure itll be any time soon. we know josh's job here isnt permanent but the pay is good and i feel like we need to keep this income for as long as we can. hopefully someday soon i can be closer to my family we can at least try to visit more often until then. jordan started walking around by himself the beginning of june and has been non stop ever since. now that he can run he plays hard all day, im glad he is so happy. hes growing up so fast, i dont even remember him being little anymore. thank goodness i took lots of pictures. i wish i had taken more... i had oral surgery on tuesday, they took a complete bony impacted wisdom tooth and 2 molars. my packing fell out on accident this morning and a stitch came out so im hurting a little more than i was. hopefully this wont cause a dry socket or cause it to take longer to heal. i have my follow up with them this coming tuesday. i also have an appointment to meet with a therapist (finally!)so i can try to get my mind and body back under control again. sure, this year has been 400X better than last year but im still no where near where i want to be. im so tired of it, its silly really. i sit my butt in there on the bathroom floor playing free cell and just waiting for my body to flip back to normal from a panic attack. i have no control over when i get one or when it goes away...all i can do is wait it out. im tired of it ruling my life. the psychiatrist that i have been seeing (she does not do therapy) is leaving her residency and i am having to start fresh with a new psychiatrist so i thought it was time to find someone to help me figure this thing out. well, i guess ill attach a few photos to this and end it here. i really thought i had more to say...

between my pain and jordan being sick i only got like 3 hours of sleep last night. id rather be in labor than have this nerve pain. did i show yall my xray?? ill post it. so far jordan hasnt puked up his jello today..im crossing my fingers its over. i went to sleep at 930 last night and couldnt get rid of the pain so i could sleep until around midnight. at 230 jordan started crying so i had to go tend to him. i ended up with a panic attack that lasted until josh went to work at 6 and then i finally was able to sleep for a bit until jordan got up. im so miserable. i want to have the surgery today, right this second. i dont know how much longer i can keep this up.

maybe today ill get motivated to post pictures and news to get everyone caught up :)

we went over to the inlaws this past saturday to clear out some trees and brush from the pasture and burn it. the kids all got to play in the pool and stuff and we bbq'd. we had a good time but boy was it hot. jordan didnt care for the pool too much. he got a few gulps and it was freezing cold. he spent most of the time in the pool crying.

before i had Jordan i was much different. i was rude crude and in your face. i cussed like a sailor and told jokes that even a whore wouldn't repeat. when i was angry i would turn on slipknot or system of a down or even fear factory and scream along with them. when i was scared or depressed i would play some old Manson and cry until it was all out. if i was happy then i would listen to soul music until i felt washed clean. i knew how to make fun of myself and how to make others laugh. i enjoyed my friends and had a good time whenever i could. i would take a spontaneous trip 3 hours away just for the hell of it. for some reason Jordan changed all that. looking back, the old me was colorful and vibrant while i have been shades of grey. Ive tried to fit myself into a mold that i can never fill. i wanted to fit in and either held my tongue or sabotaged myself and ended up ostracized. I'm not that person. i am not refined, i am not a good influence, I'm not earth friendly, I'm not a perfect mom. i don't think I'm even a great mom; i think I'm OK and the fact that i try my hardest means more. Ive been trying to be someone I'm not just so i could fit in with different groups of women. why does loneliness do this to someone? i never meant to change. honestly i never saw it happening. as Ive started cutting more and more pieces of me away its left a lot of spots empty. no wonder my body is freaked out, it doesn't know how to survive without those pieces. I'm broken, I'm strung out, I'm tired and i don't recognize who i have become. i have a right to be angry and emotional. i have a right to be depressed or unhappy. i don't have to be a perfect wife and mother. i don't think i can ever fill the expectations i have been holding for myself. i try so hard to be honest...even when it hurts. why couldn't i have just been honest with myself. the mirror has been lying to me, that's not my reflection; its the ghost of my old self fading in the background. I'm ready to move on and enjoy life again instead of willing the hours away. i want to cherish every moment instead of wearing myself thin. I'm done with this shell Ive created for myself. from now on, ill be me again.

my saving grace

sometimes the most obvious things are the hardest to find. music has always been my passion, i should have known that cutting music out of my life (unintentionally) would leave a part of my heart and soul missing. i will not forget again.

btw- this song was always one of my favorites. finally after not hearing it in over a year it brought my soul crashing back to my body. tears sprang in my eyes, a cleansing rain. click the eye for the song.

lessons learned

so i learned some lessons last night

1. buspar doesnt need any help from the knonapin. i should drop down immediately.

2. taking unisom is not a good idea when starting a new medication

3. DONT put witch hazel in an infected ear if theres any indication it might be perforated. it will make the room spin and throw off your equilibrium for HOURS

4. waking up every 2 hours is a good idea for me. if i dont, my acid reflux will get too bad.

so, i took my klonapin with my buspar yesterday evening (since i am still weaning off the klonapin) and ended up feeling high. put witch hazel in my ear and couldnt walk or see straight. i felt like i was drunk and i thought i was going to end up puking from it. i took unisom before bed (since ive had to lately) and slept so deeply that i didnt move until 4 in the morning. when i woke at 4 it was with nausea and a horrible panic attack. my gut still feels gnawed, my entire body feels like i ran a marathon and my ear still hurts. go figure

its been an emotionally exhausting 2 days. my psychiatrist is officially weaning me off of my klonopin. im glad she decided to let me, i dont want to be on it anymore. i want to have another child and this medication can cause birth defects...also i dont want to become addicted to a controlled substance that is sometimes considerd a street drug. i refuse to become that person. things blew up on my moms board. i dont think i will get over this any time soon. im so sad that a group of ladies that i considered my best friends could choose sides so fast once the can of worms is open. i dont feel betrayed like this often. on another note, a girl on deviantArt drew jordan in pastels, it came out really well. ill put it here. i will try again to get that video up, its so cute and i want to share it with you all.

so its been a year. on this day a year ago was when i had my first panic attack. it was the start of a week of not eating followed by a hospital stay and every test under the sun ran on me. it was the start of the deepest darkest depression ive ever been in. every day im afraid of going back to that. i want to say im a survivor, so far i think i am but i thought id be much much farther by now. i want to do so much more in my life. i want more children and i want to be able to enjoy them. i want to be able to comfort my children when they are sick instead of running and panicking. i dont want to relapse, i want to move forward. i want to take a stand and tell my anxiety to shove it. im better than it and i shouldnt let it rule my life. i absolutely refuse to let it ruin my life. i am alive and i want to LIVE and enjoy every single minute that the good Lord allows me to. today is josh's birthday, he turns 26. i want to enjoy it. i dont want to associate his birthday every year with my sickness. on another note, i have a pounding headache and my child is not happy today. must be teeth...its always teeth. so heres some pictures and videos of my cranky child. :)

the birthday's were fun but overwhelming. leaves me contemplating the last year. there is so much i missed while i was sick, i wish i could have a do over and get on meds right away. i wish i would have snuggled more when i had the chance. maybe if we are blessed with a second child i can do everything different.

so i guess i spoke too soon. 3 days of working with him and hes right where hes supposed to be. hes not ahead of other kids his age of course but at least he's not behind. he still doesnt sit alot and the pillow still stays behind him but at this rate im sure it wont be for much longer. he is a totally different kid, its like the world has all of a sudden opened up to him. he is so proud of himself and excited about all the new things he can do :)

jordan just CRACKED ME UP. we were watching blues clues and i was successfully getting him to sit up and the mail song came on. he got so darn excited he fell over!!! his whole body started shaking and he just lost it lol. i tried to see if it would happen again and i kinda got it.

in other news i called the ped today about jordan not doing the things he should be and they are putting a referral in for an ECI (early childhood intervention) to check for developmental disabilities. needless to say i will definitely have to start working harder with him and just making him sit up until his muscles get used to it.

my son watches tv alot, yah yah i know mother of the year but what can i say; i dont have the energy to entertain an 10 month old! there are some shows that i like, well more than some, and a few i dont. i saw the most horrible thing on tv today on yo gabba gabba. dj lance was bad enough but this lady takes the cake. big woman in glittery gold skintight spandex bodysuit with fringe, blue eyeshadow up to her eyebrows, 80's style glasses, big hair. jiggling on my tv screen singing "glitter hands" and "razzle dazzle". her name is leslie...i looked her up. see for yourself how disturbing this is. if its choppy you can click on it and it will take you to the original video on youtube.

there is also a ridiculously funny article that gave me a huge laughing attack about this episode of yo gabba gabba here. www.almightyray.com . beware that this article is not for the faint of heart and contains words that some may find very offensive.
